However, I believe the IPCC reports (esp. the exec summaries) have underplayed the fullest extent of the report itself. And the very methodology requiring a large number of scientist to sign off (i.e., building by committee). Lastly, I would add the UK's Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA) report, The Emperor’s New Climate Scenarios, feel risk are potential understated, or as they put it “…climate-change scenario modelling… exclude many of the most severe impacts… the results emerging from the models are far too benign… they do not communicate the level of risk adequately. More dangerously, the artificially benign results can easily serve as an excuse for delaying action…” You have properly recognized the risk of underplaying world-altering risks, so hope you appreciate my efforts to do likewise.
